Actor Heath Ledger was found dead in his Manhattan apartment on Tuesday, possibly of a drug overdose, New York City police said.

Gong Yoo, who joins the army on Jan 14, is the latest high profile star who enter the military service.
2008 will see an influx of big names into Korea’s mandatory military service… Shinhwa’s Eric and Kim Dong-wan are approaching the age limit (28) and will have to join the army this year; others like actors Kim Rae-won, Lee Dong-gun and pop star Kangta are probably joining in too.
British pop singer Shayne Ward was in Beijing to promote his 2nd album, “Breathless”.

Shayne rose to fame in late 2005 after winning British singing talent show, “The X Factor”. I am not sure how famous he still is in UK, but he is doing very well in China and some Asian region.
Canadian singer Avril Lavigne is cleared from a copyright suit.
Avril Lavigne was reported to have settled her lawsuit with songwriters Tommy Dunbar and James Gangwer, who claimed that her hit song, “Girlfriend”, was plagiarizing the Rubinoos 1979 single, “I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend”.
Dunbar and Gangwer filed the lawsuit in July 2007 against Avril (and her songwriting partner, Dr. Luke). On Tuesday (Jan 15) however, they issued a statement that cleared Lavigne and Luke from the suit…
“We are satisfied that any similarities between the two songs resulted from Avril and Luke’s use of certain common and widely used lyrics,”
“We therefore completely exonerate Avril and Luke from any wrongdoing of any kind in connection with the claims made by us in our lawsuit.”
Taiwanese celebrity couple Vic Zhou and Barbie Hsu have called it quits. Both stars have confirmed through their agents that they have split under mutual consent.

There are various speculations on what led to their break up, but it doesn’t really matter… let’s just hope that both of them will have a happy life in future.
