Korean drama “Bad Love” (also known as “Cruel Love”), starring Kwon Sang-woo and Lee Yo-won, has ended showing in Korea on Feb 12 with disappointing ratings.

Despite starring the big names, Bad Love’s final episode only managed a 6.8% rating. On contrary, other dramas that showed on the same time has achieved much better ratings (MBC’s “Yi San” has 34.7% ratings).
Big names don’t always work.

I live in the Philippines and we, in my family who all love koreanovelas, expected Bad Love not to win in the ratings game and the reason is obvious. It is illogical to see a girl/woman who is not pretty and very ordinary looking to be contested by two really really handsome hunks. I mean be realistic. KBS is really very bad at casting talents. If they had just put in Chae Rim there (she may not be a raging beauty but she’s a natural actress and lucky too as proven in Dalja’s spring which by the way could have rated even more if they gave Chae Rim a real hot and handsome partner and not Lee Min-ki) or maybe Song Yun-ah also a charming, natural actress with no pretentions or even that girl that played Suhyeon in Daughters in Law who is pretty and credible enough to have men fighting over her. KBS should learn from MBC’s blockbusters like All About Eve and Hotelier. Now those two dramas have the best cast or what you may call a casting coup where everyone is perfect for the role assigned to each.
