Korean star Lee Jun-ki is officially a member of Emperor Entertainment Group (EEG), one of the largest entertainment conglomerates in Hong Kong and China. EEG will manage his career in Chinese region (China, Hong Kong and Taiwan).

Jun-ki has already signed the contract on September 19, but is only officially introduced to the press on September 28 in Beijing. Hong Kong pop duo Twins came all the way from Hong Kong to join the welcome ceremony.
It’s reported that his contract is worth at least HKD10million (~USD1.28mil). Besides Twins, other famous stars under EEG include Vicki Zhao, Nicholas Tse, Yumiko Cheng etc. Superstar Jackie Chan is also part of EEG, but he is working in partnership with the company instead of the normal contract like others.

The signature of Jun-ki means that Chinese fans will have more chances to see Jun-ki in action. EEG has announced its plan to make Jun-ki a star in both acting in singing.
I am a bit reserve on whether Jun-ki could make it big with EEG though. I remembered EEG signing Korean pop star Lee Hyori a couple years ago… but despite all the hype, I can’t see much of Hyori’s action in Chinese entertainment.
Besides, I don’t really like the idea of Korean stars acting in Chinese drama or singing in Chinese. If they can speak perfect Chinese, I am fine with it… else, perhaps they should just focus on what they can do best… to act and sing in Korean.

Lee Hyori only sign 1 movies contract with them in 2004 for (1.2 billion won)….i think that is why EGG do not promotion her….but Lee Junki is different EGG sign a longterm contract with him for(12 billion won) and that is alot of money they paid for a newbies….i beliived they much has did their research first whether he going to be big or not befor signed him….well we will wait and see how further can he go but i think he did the right thing HK is the gateway to international stardom…haha!

Thanks for the note lynn… I can’t recall Hyori acting in a Chinese movie though… still pending perhaps.
Lee Jun-ki has a large fan base in Asia region, I don’t doubt that… we’ll see how it goes.

Just imagine listening to korean songs but understand nothing out of the song. Chinese is getting weird nowdays getting crazy over korean or japanese song. Just wonder if korean actor or actress acting in chinese film but never speak a word in chinese… I think we are going back to the old movies when there are no sound system…. charlie chaplin…
hahahaha…
By the way… I am not talking about music….

lol, interesting thought about the charlie chaplin business Yesnoman! but maybe they’ll be dubbing chinese over Lee Junki if he doesnt learn chinese in time for filming? That’s what they did for Kim Hee-seon in Jackie Chan’s ‘The Myth’.

wow, interesting to know that Jun Ki’s career is getting more and more successful..yeah I kinda agree..though I’m a chinese and I really love Jun Ki but I find it kinda weird actually if Jun Ki starts involving in chinese movies or singing chinese songs..worst still if he sings in cantonese(LOL..hopefully not)yeah…I think he should stick to korean dramas and movies..[man I love Time between Dog & Wolf) Nevertheless, I’m sure the asian fans(including chinese people) will surely keep on supporting Jun Ki..gogo Jun Ki!!
