Some recent reports suggested that Japanese actress Matsushima Nanako is in a jobless crisis.

Nanako was once the most popular Japanese actress before going into pregnancy hiatus. Her popularity dropped rapidly since then… and her drama’s ratings since her comeback were very disappointing by her standard.
Another problem is that despite her fading popularity, Nanako is one of the highest paid Japanese actresses… unless she is willing to cut her pay, she will face tough challenge to attract producers for her next drama or movie.
It’s a pity if Nanako is ‘forced’ to retire this way, she is an excellent actress.

jore… well, entertainment world in Japan can be cruel sometime. Most of the female artists could not survive after marching into their 30s.

yummy !!! really??? tht’s not fair…lolz and how about male artists???

Farah… true. In fact the situation has been improved in recent years… a decade ago the actresses would probably have to retire before 30; these days we can still see some that are doing well in early 30s.
Male artist have a much longer life span. Takuya Kimura is still going strong in 30s… lots of male singers are still popular in their 40s (some even 50s).

I think if she is been forced to retire in sucha way, it is really very pity.
She is really a talented actress, and somemore she is beautiful.
I like her smile, so prettyful. ( Jealous of her smile!! So charming)
Yeah, just pray hard that this is one of her downs period and hopefully she will be on the top again asap.
I really like her show very much although Singapore doesn’t have much Japanese drama. She is one of the actress I like most

Her husband is having a decent career… not as famous as he used to be, but never short of movies and dramas offer.

she’s getting older…japanese artists(women) would face this reality when they are getting old(unless if they are gorgeous and single like Ryoko Yonekura and Norika Fujiwara)
