It’s unimaginable how the LA’s law system works… Paris Hilton could be sent into jail for 45 days, and released after 3 days to serve the sentence at home due to undisclosed medical condition, and now the court has ordered that she be put into jail again.
Sounds more like a Hollywood movie plot than what is happening in real life. I guess Paris Hilton will have enough dramas to write a book about the saga now.

The whole thing is laughable. The sherrif is double talking. The lawyers are idiots, and Paris needs to grow up. She acts like its the end of the world. Oh, and her mommy the enabler needs to show some tough love…for once.

What I understand is that because of prison-overcrowding, it’s not uncommon for prisoners with minor offences to be released much sooner and serve her sentence under probation at home instead.
Question is… does the sherrif have the authority to make the decision? I am thinking if Paris is victimized as well in this case. I mean if she is a normal person, will she be allow to serve her sentence at home instead?
The whole confusion of the legal system is what makes the whole thing laugable… it’s like an unorganized kindergarten.
Her lawyers are stupid jerk definitely… it’s one thing if the sheriff decided to release her due to overcrowding; but in this case it’s obvious that the whole thing was planned.

Yes, the sherrif did go on and on about overcrowding and such. But where he contradicted himself is that after his long speech about it, he then switched gears and said the whole reason for sending her home was her “serious medical condition”. So the question is, why even bring up the overcrowding issue when that wasn’t his stated reason for letting her go home.
The Sherrif has the authority unless otherwise ordered by the judge. The judge in fact, stated during her sentenceing that she was not to go home or be fitted with an ankle monitor. So the Sherrif was technically in contempt of court. He disobeyed the judges orders and the judge said he did not condone it.
I don’t see Paris as a victim here. She is in the special needs section for celebrites away from the violent offenders by herself. And as the judge said, they have access to medical tretment if needed. With her money she can even have the best doctors come to the facility if needed. She’s just scared that’s all. It’s like being away from home for the first time. She’s had mommy spoiling her all her life. Not uncommon.
Paris needs this. And she’s getting it easier than most. She HAS TO LEARN HER LESSON! She can’t break the law and get awayt with it. It sets a bad precedent. And she can’t have any special treatment. If she had stayed at home I don’t think she would change her ways. She will do alot of maturing from this. I guarantee it.

Ya, I watch some news clips on her prison cell… it’s like a 3 star hotel room, it’s not bad at all for treating a prisoner.
June 10th, 2007 at 7:16 am
In addition, the judge said during the hearing Friday, that he had been told that a copy of the medical report on Hilton’s condition was being sent to him. By the end of her court hearing Friday, the report had ’still’ not been sent to him. That is not the judges fault. If they had sent the report as had been promised, the judge might have been in a position to rule differently in his sentence based apon her supposed condition.
It’s an example of a badly managed system full of red tape and complacent incompetence on the part of people involved.
Sort of like the guy with TB getting back into the country despite warnings. People are the problem with systems not running like they should IMHO.
Latest is, Paris is not eating or sleeping and crying alot. My guess is, if she doesn’t improve they will eventually send her back home. Just a hunch.

Don’t get me wrong, nobody want’s her to become ill or hurt herself. I don’t think any cruelty is meant towards her. She obviously is very emotional, upset and scared. But if she is capable at all to do her time, then she should.

I had a relative who did time in county jail for 2 1/2 months on possession. He was a grown man. He was in with the scary inmates too. You know, the gang bangers, drug dealers etc. He was very scared at first and he cried for the first two weeks, because he’s never been in that situation. Then he went to rehab for another 6 months. Later he said it was good that he stayed in jail because it did indeed change him. And he’s an exception to the rule. Most of those guys don’t care and can’t wait to get out and start commiting crimes again. Alot of them are the hot-shot punk kids in gangs. Some of them will never learn.

Here’s the other main thing about staying in jail and doing your time. And this is so important. For someone to be kept in jail, it gives you alot of time to reflect and think about your life and whether or not you really want to change.
June 10th, 2007 at 11:04 am
I guess the challenge for inmates is what happen after jail term. As you said some guys are just waiting to come out to commit crime again, because that is the only way of life they knew. Even if a person really decided to change, it will depend on whether if s/he could adapt to the new society.
I am not sure how acceptance US people towards ex-convict; but in Asia, most people are biased towards them, sometimes regardless of how serious their offence was.
As for Paris, at least she doesn’t have to worry about life after.

Well, sadly alot of these kids nowadays in gangs think it’s cool to have spent time in jail. Like it’s a badge of courage or initiation that they are percieved as tough guys on the outside afterwards. It’s like “oh so-and-so has been to da jail so now he earns da respect man” You have to understand his gang mentality these days. It’s plain ridiculous and immature. I get this info first hand from my family member who was in jail listening to all these young idiots talking all this nonsense.
Also, addicts are very easily pulled back into the lifestyle once they are out. Even after they have gone through rehab. It truly is an attitude issue to a big extent as to whether you want to change. Some just don’t reach that point of wanting to change bad enough to leave it all behind. That means friends and everything. It’s the only way.
Acceptance towards convicts in the U.S. is pretty much as you say it is there. Even if you were’nt ‘convicted’ it still works against you in finding jobs etc. There’s just a stigma attached to being arrested and put in jail. The best some can do is to get it expunged (removed) from your record eventually so that it doesn’t pop up on a computer. That cost a little extra money but it’s possible.
I agree Paris won’t have too bad a problem with life after. She has alot of fans and sympathizers and…money. And it might even boost her career, lol. But she will have a little stigma attached that will never go away. Still, I think if she can stick it out in jail she will earn a little more respect for at least doing the right thing in the long run.
Right now she’s having a hard time. They’ve got her under psychological evaluation and are watching her closely to decide with jail she should be put in for the remainder of her sentence. Currently she’s in a medical towers faciiity cell of some sort.

Twin Towers Detention Center in Downtown L.A.
“Twin Towers is equipped to treat acute medical and mental health needs, although inmates in need of more serious attention are moved to a hospital.”

Now Paris has told the Judge that she’s gonna quit acting so “dumb” and that she want’s to make a difference in her lfe.
Well, I hope so. Maybe she’s settling down now and ready to do her time… Maybe.
