Japan TV station FujiTV is filming TV drama Hana Kimi, based on popular manga “Hanazakari no Kimitachi e” by Hisaya Nakajo.

Taiwan has produced the drama in 2006, starring Ella Chen and Wu Chun etc. and achieved great ratings. Perhaps the success has prompted Fujitv to make the Japanese version as well.
The Japanese Hana Kimi will star Maki Origita, Shun Oguri and Toma Ikuta.
This is the story of the original manga, taken from wikipedia…
Hana-Kimi centers on Mizuki Ashiya, a Japanese girl who lives in the United States. One day, she sees a track and field competition on TV, and becomes attracted to one of the competitors, Izumi Sano, competing in the high jump.
She begins to idolize the young athlete and eventually transfers to Japan to attend the same school that Sano attends. There is a catch, however– Sano attends an all-boys high school, named Osaka Gakuen, and Mizuki must disguise herself as a boy to enter.

even though ella doesn’t fit the part too well as mizuki in the tw-drama version, wu chun is great playing as sano
personally i prefer him to shun for the part
although tw-drama is a little awkward to follow, it atleast got the beginning of how mizuki and sano first bumped into each other as well as other parts in the manga…unlike the j-drama version…kinda disappointing when i watched the first ep

Before i start watching the Japan version of hana kimi, I am afraid that I will get bored of it as I already know the storyline from the taiwan version. However, I was wrong, the story was about 80% different. It is good that they follow the manga as the storyline in manga is the best of all.
Although wu zun is handsome, oguri shun is also very handsome and cute. Your can go see the hana dango, oguri shun is acting as the hanazawa RUI.

wQ… Japanese always have their unique style in making their dramas and movies, so I am not worried about similar plots.

but nobody can beat hokuto umeda from the manga. His character is just too complex to be portrayed by the human being. For nanba senpai I seriously prefer the taiwanese than the japanese but still shun n maki wins over. nakatsu japanese is cute almost the same like manga just that he is not as crazy or as lively that neese…FOR NOW…

I loved the Japanese version! I saw the first two episodes and I think it’s pretty different too. And even if they aren’t as faithful to the manga, I still enjoyed it immensely. :3 Hehehe I liked both versions though too. I think both has their own cham although I am veering towards favoring Maki over Ella. I think both do a pretty good job. :D

I like both versions of Hana Kimi but the only problem with the Taiwanese is that Ella character started to drag.

havent seen the tw version, but right now im totally head-over-hills with the jap version. gee they know how to be funny! not one dull moment, even from the co-characters, every single bit was watchable. however i do have to admit my disappointment as to how the drama not following the manga completely, because the manga rocks. but overall this drama(jap version) got me completely hooked.
p.s shun is so gorgeous ^_^V

I’ve watched both versions, and although the jap version isn’t as faithful to the manga, the casting is MUCH better and the portrayal of the characters is better and more funny. Japan has its own way of doing the humour so its very good. Almost like watching an anime come to life. Taiwanese version is just too quirky for me and all the characters except quan in the taiwanese version were just a bit off. So while both versions were good (in their own ways) i prefer the japanese version! :D

i really love the japanese version. its funny and cute. all the cast really did their part well. especially nakatsu even he is not ahiya’s partner he is still like the protagonist oof the stry because he is in almost every scene. oguri is cute too. and maki really did a great job. it suits her best. can you send me their group picture when they were in the dorms cafeteria?? hehe i cant find it.. and i really love that scene.

OOH! I CANT WAIT FOR THE 2ND SEASON OF HANA KIMI taiwanese version! I HOPE THEY WILL BE THE SAME CAST AS THE FIRST!!.. and yeah, i hope that it will be full of wacky stuff again which will definitely catch the audience’s attention!.. well, it absolutely did on the first season, so why not let the people get satisfied on their love story?!! .:P as for the japanese version, i havent seen it yet, so i guess i’m gonna finish it first!..
