The director and cast of movie “Battle of Red Cliff” held their first official press conference on Thursday (May 10) in Beijing, China.
The highest ever budget Chinese movie is directed by John Woo, and starred by actors and actresses from China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Among the big names are Tony Leung, Takeshi Kaneshiro, Vicki Zhao, Lin Zhi Ling, Zhang Fengyi, Hu Jun, Chang Chen etc.

Tony Leung looks grumpy. He never looks happy to me in all of his films i’ve seen, as a matter of fact.
Takeshi Kaneshiro as Zhuge Liang seems a little bit off to me though. Too bad Chow Yun-Fatt pulled out of this one. :(

Well, with this glamorous cast, it can’t be too bad. One thing though, I can’t recall John Woo directing an ‘ancient movie’… I wonder if he is capable of bringing out the essence of ancient warfare.

Takeshi is mix, Japanese father and Taiwanese mother. He was born in Taiwan, and I guess you can call him as Japanese or Taiwanese… I prefer to see him as Taiwanese though.

Personally, do not really know much about diretor John Woo’s work , but from what I heard of his reputation as a film director, I believe he will produce a good film.
Yes, Kaneshiro-san is a Taiwanese -Japanese, but now residing in Japan. He is still a Taiwanese at heart though. A great actor.
Cant’ believe that this movie has a great cast of talented actors. Can’t wait
to go see this movie. Will be in cinemas some time end of the year ?

sunshine… John Woo WAS a great director, I am not sure if he still got the touch he used to have.
The movie will only be out in 2008.
