Korean TV station MBC has conducted a survey among Koreans from teenage to 70s in age… Rain is the favourite male artist among ladies in their 70s lol.
Some other stats… actor Jang Dong-gun is favourite among ladies ranged from 30s to 60s; Jo In-sung is favourite among 20s.
Kim Tae-hee is the favourite among guys in teenage, 20s and 40s; Son Ye-jin the favourite among 30s.

hm…interesting Yummy, i was thinking about the same thing as well and this is what i thought:
Although Rain’s not conventionally hot, he does have good abs but i think it’s his smile that does it, it’s like a cute cheeky smile/grin and grandmothers love that : )
but if he wasn’t smiling, he’d look like a… :p

My guess why old ladies like Rain is probably because he seems to behave well even in public. Korea is such a polite country. Young generations are expected to show decency and respect for the elders, which I think Rain successfully shows even if he is very popular. I remember one article about a respected old actress which mentioned Rain, SHG and Lee Byung Hun as the very few actors/actress that have never lost respect for the elders. So I guess Rain’s track record for behaving well privately and publicly is one major factor why he’s popular even with the oldies.
