Hong Kong actor/director Stephen Chow will be co-producing a Japanese movie, “Shaolin Girl.”
Stephen’s popularity in Japan is high rising after the success of “Shaolin Soccer” and “Kungfu Hustle.” His popularity has prompted Fuji-TV to invite him to co-produce the movie, with Shibasaki Kou (pic) the leading actress.
The movie is about an ice-hockey player (Shibasaki Kou) who went to China’s Shaolin Temple to learn Kungfu and blended martial arts with ice-hockey.
A few co-actors in Shaolin Soccer will be featuring in the movie as well.

So Stephen Chow is co-producing but not directing this movie? I just saw a MV by this girl Shibasaki Kou on Youtube called “Hito Koi Meguri”. She’s a cute girl. Ok singer. Song seemed a little overproduced imo but she seems like she’s a better actress from the MV I saw.

He’s not directing, and I am not 100% certain if his name will appear on the producer list… he is said to be sort of an advisor actually.
I never knew that Shibasaki can sing lol… I always see her as an actress. She can act pretty well though, that’s for sure.
