Singapore singer Stefanie Sun (孫燕姿) was threatened in Egypt while filming a music video.
It’s suspected that the Asia pop star and the film crew were threatened by gangsters with guns because of some monetary issues, but the details can only be confirmed once they get back to Taiwan. No one was hurt in the incident though, luckily.
The team of 22, which include Stefanie, her family and the crew are currently under Singapore’s embassy protection, and is expected to leave Egypt on 4pm, Tuesday, January 27.
This is not the first time Stefanie was facing a gun-threat; a crazy fellow tried to take her into hostage when she promoted her debut album in Taiwan years ago.
Well, at least everyone is safe, that’s all that matters at the moment.

That’s terrible to have that happen. It keeps everybody on edge and makes the whole working atmosphere very tense for people. Be interested to know the details on the monetary issues involved. It’s good everyone is safe.
Yummy, in this case the word “crews” doesn’t necessarily require an ’s’ at the end. ‘Crew’ is already plural for a group of people working on behalf of this particular project.
You would only use the word “crews” when speaking of more than one of these groups that are working on maybe several different projects for different organizations.
For instance, if there were two or more different music videos being done at this location by different groups of people, then they all would be referred to as “crews”.

The crew is ‘one’ unit or group of people so you would use IS.( ie: The crew IS working hard today.) Whereas when speaking of the “crews”, then you would use ARE. (All of the various crews at the location ARE taking a 5 minute break right now).
meeemieee, I’m just helping to finese the grammar of his articles. I asked before if he minded and he indicated that he didn’t mind. If Yummy would rather I did not point these things out from time to time, all he has to do is say so. I’ll understand. Perhaps it would be better if I didn’t?!

Your use of ARE in the article above is correct however, because you are speaking of more than one element. “Stephanie, her family, and the crew”, are plural so ARE is correct..

But then, if you were to mention the team by itself without listing who the team were made up of, then I am pretty certain IS would be correct. (The team IS currently under embassy protection) Because, just like “crew” the word “team” refers to a single group of people. So, single makes it one even though it’s a group of many. LOL., are we thoroughly confused now?
