“Protégé” becomes best selling local movie in Hong Kong during the Chinese New Year week; receiving over HKD15 million (~USD2 million) of gross receipts after 8 days of showing.
Starring the likes of Andy Lau (???), Daniel Wu (???), Louis Koo (???), Anita Yuen (???) and Zhang Jingchu (???); “Protégé” is far ahead in cinema ticket sales compared to other local movies during the festive season.
Directed by Derek Yee (???), the crime movie is about drug lords and the dark side of the society… pretty unconventional topic to be showed during Chinese New Year, but it did well.
Still, it’s a western movie that topped the box-office over the week. “Night at the Museum” received HKD19 million after showing for 6 days.
