Supermodel Gisele Bündchen has entered Brazil’s growing debate over anorexia, saying families are to blame, and not the fashion industry.

Anorexia became a hot issue in Brazil after the deaths of four young women last month, including 21-year-old model Ana Carolina Reston.
Many people are blaming the fashion industry for portraying the thin image that some youngsters are obsess with, and lead to the danger of anorexia.
Other countries have also started to address what they see as the dangerous link between high fashion glamour and an unhealthy image of women. Madrid fashion week for example, made a bold move in September 2006 by banning overthin models on catwalk.
“Everybody knows the standard for models is to be thin,” Bundchen said. “But you can’t generalize and say that all models are anorexic.”
“I never suffered this problem because I had a very strong family base,” the supermodel told the local Globo newspaper Friday. “The parents are responsible, not fashion.”
Gisele Bündchen is one of the world’s top earning supermodel. She is also famous for her previous on-and-off relationship with Hollywood superstar Leonardo DiCaprio.

I’m currectly woking on reseach paper on anorexia. I believe media, advertizement industries, as well as the fashion industry are to blame, for sending the wrong message across many young girls. They are portaying an average american image for women to follow. Many girls want to look like supemodels because they are influenced and see models/celebrities as their role models.
Any one has helpful comments about all this and anoexia, please help.

I believe that every person in this world have they own choices and you cannot blame others for the choices that you decided to make in life even if it means being the most sexiest model or bodybuilder in the world. Eveything that you want and need in life are based on the choices that you made.
Kind Regards

Well, I guess what she says is half true… But i dont think that the problem of anorexia is entirely the parent’s fault.
