Andy Lau Tak Wah started his career in Hong Kong main TV production company, TVB.
After graduated from TVB acting school, Andy Lau was given chances in some supporting cast before landing his first major role in “Hunting” (1982).
Andy’s breakthrough came later in 1983 where he starred in the ever popular Wuxia drama, “The Return of the Condor Heroes.” Andy Lau instantly becomes an Asian superstar since then.
Andy Lau was also given chances on the big screen, and his first major success in movies came in 1985 with “Unwritten Law,” with another 2 sequels made. From then on Andy has made over 100 movies in his still running acting career.
There are good and bad in those 100+ films; especially when Andy Lau was young, lots of his movies are commercial basis and could be pretty lousy production. Only in recent years that Andy began to be pickier in movies, and the qualities are more guaranteed.
It was also in 1985 that Andy Lau released his first album, but it took him a few years to be recognized as an established singer.
In the 1990s, Andy Lau together with Jackie Cheung, Leon Lai and Aaron Kwok were crowned ‘4 Heavenly Kings of Cantopop’, and dominated the Hong Kong music arena until late 90s.
Andy Lau has won many musical awards in his career, but his luck with movie awards is not as splendid. His first major acting award only came in 2000, as Best Actor in Hong Kong Film Festival with movie “Running Out of Time.”
Andy Lau has always been eager to prove himself as a good actor rather than a popular idol; and after a few years of disappointment, Andy Lau finally won the prestigious Golden Horse Award in 2004 for his performance in “Infernal Affairs 3.″
Andy Lau had previously invested in movies production in early 90s but met with failure; in the past couple of years he started his own production firm again to fund new Asian directors with their movie projects, and has achieved decent success so far.

I think Andy Lau is one of the best role models in Asian entertainment world. I don’t think Andy is a talented artist, but he works hard all these years to become a good one.
Andy’s hardworking and professionalism has always been praised by the press, and he is always polite and well mannered in public appearance, while keeping a healthy lifestyle.

Kristian, or should I say film buff or truth serum, the only way anyone will see you at the movies is if they run into you going into the cinema to watch a movie yourself. You will never be in any movie. Quit talking through your butt. No one believes you. The more you go on, the more you prove to the world just how delusional you really are. Coming back with what she considers a smart or funny comment only proves she is either a glutten for punishment , or, she is so whacked out that she thinks we are flattering her. We all hate her, does she not get that hundreds of us find her repulsive and disgusting. uyeah.. to poster who wrote about indecent Porposal.. I worked the scene shot at a hotel on La cienega.. THE INDECENT PROPOSAL SCENE.. HOTEL NIKKO.. to make it seem like the suite of Redord in Vegas.. oh.. to tjhis day.. I will still consider that scene one of the real old Hollywood type shoots.. like the LAST TYCOON.. a real movie movie.. I was standing by Redford about 3 feet away from him.. we shot for 12 hrs.. an all nighter and only about 1 min was used for the master shot.. ( and we shot all week for the whole scene.. ) Demi was wearing her Therriey Mugler dress, Redfors in his tux.. as soon a s he came on set– he proceeded to eat the salad.. as we were using real food.. gourmet no less.. SHERRY LANSING was there as our producer, her last film as independent producer.. soon after she became head of Paramount. I adored the director.. Adrian Lyne.. who also did FATAL ATTRACTION.. so Brit.. he lovely.. not what I expected at all..
Redord truly carries great charisma.. everytime I heard him speak– I kept thin,king where’s Butch..? so odd to hear this very famlous vloice.. speaking a few feet away from me. and it’s real.
I’ve met.. an awful lot of true MAJOR STARS.. who the hell cares about Andy?/ in comparison? m for awhile there- I thought maybe.. he’s got something.. he doesn’t! Jet Li is far better than him.

Love to see Andy get back to work in the movies and future concerts in time to come. it would be cool to see him collaborate with Sammi again. I love the two together. I breath a sigh of relieve knowing this too shall pass about his private matter. It has passed about troublemaker and unfilial ho who tried to force Crazy thoughts down our throats. In Hong Kong, we have saying, empty tins will make the most noise because they are empty. I know that now. I read Aesop’s tales about the fox wanting the grapes and those grapes were the best thing on earth.
