“Curse of the Golden Flower” is directed by famous Chinese director Zhang YiMou, and have a strong cast of international superstars like Chow Yun Fat, Gong Li and Jay Chou.
The story is based on epic Chinese novel “Lei Yu” (means Thunderstorm in Chinese) by Cao Yu. The story plots on love and conflict between two family, and trust me, it’s more dramatic than “Romeo and Juliet.”
Director Zhang made some changes to the story, including the shift on timeline to Tang Dynasty and the character background.
Chow Yun Fat is playing as emperor, pop star Jay Chou is playing as a general, and I think Gong Li is playing as the queen that betrays Chow.
I always like Zhang’s directed movies, sometimes he can be a bit boring, but he always managed to show something special in his movies, and he’s absolute A class in artistry.
Hope that this movie is a good one as well, it’s started its preshow in Beijing, and should premiere to public in a month or two.

I’ve watched this movie.Actually,I’m Jay’s truest fan.I love him and his songs.But I think his acting is not that good.What do you think? And I want to know whether Jay is well known in America.And my English is not very good.I’m Myanmar.

I’ve watched this movie also and I think it is good. First of all to get the facts straight Jay Chou plays Prince Jai(The Eldest son of the Empress and second of the Emperor and because of this he’s called Second Prince). Gong Li is the Empress not Queen….Emperor and Empress-the Highest position in China. Second, you people can’t be so mean to Jay Chou…I mean cuz he’s new in show business…but I think he did a good job in this movie. In Initial D he was a drift racer and this a completely different role…i never though he would do a martial arts movie and his skill is quite amazing for someone who hasn’t had prior martial arts training. He did his best and it was all for his fans…so come on, the least you people can do is to appreciate all his hard work which he had to do with a spine disorder.

I don’t think I will watch this movie, because I only watch happy ending one.
Everyone except Chow Yun Fat is dead.
Heard the story as this :
Jay as the Second Prince, learns that his father is poisoning his mother, revolt in order to save his mother. But he is later capture alive, by his father order that no harm is to come to him.
His father then give him a choice. To stay at his side and give his mother poison or give up his life. He choose the second option. Sad ending….
Jay’s acting in Initial D is good.
