Pop diva Mariah Carey was suprised to be presented with $5.4million worth of diamonds and jewelries by Brunei’s Prince Azim, son of the Sultan of Brunei.
Mariah Carey received the big gift when preparing to perform at New York’s Madison Square Garden on August 23.
The prince was not there to present the gift himself, but sent his representative by private jet to deliver the 8 carat diamond, a platinum necklace and matching ring.
Let’s see if the 24-year-old prince and the 36-year-old singer have any chance to get together.
Prince Azim is 2nd or 3rd in line to the throne of Brunei Sultanate. The current king of Brunei Brunei is Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, and he’s one of the richest man on earth.

The prince should have used that money to improve the health system in Brunei. Maybe Mariah Carey should advice him… or help him focus more on the needs of the country. Its in such a sad state. I dont understand how the Royal Brunei family could spend money like that on others without looking at the woes of their country.

I always thought Brunei are doing well in terms of their infrastructure, Brunei should be one of the richest country per capita, and the citizens don’t even need to pay tax… so I guess the prince can afford to have a little bit of luxury.

The money that Brunei earned was not spent on the proper welfare of the country. If you live in Brunei.. or even visit the hospital… its beyond words. Brunei’s neighbouring country, Malaysia who isnt as rich can still have a better health system.. infrastructure.. even communication system then what Brunei has to offer to its people.
November 7th, 2006 at 4:38 pm
With the money they have… they could offer a lot more then what Brunei already have. I’m just shocked as to what the other countries could do for their own people, which is not supposedly missing in Brunei considering the fact that Brunei is one of the ‘richest’ country in the world~~ Its not money well spent if you ask me. Even Princess Mary of Denmark was critisised of spending too much on clothes… what makes Prince Azim an exception when so much is left undone in his own country?

ic.. point taken. Seems like I got the misconception all this while, I thought Brunei is pretty well developed.

Hi Yummy
I am very surprise for your protection towards the sultan of Brunei. I don’t blame you; this man was one of my heroes until I’ve been chased by a member of his family in London casinos and the consciousnesses were dreadful. Your beloved sultan is involved in to the mater and protecting a wife who he found in his palace having sexual intercourse with the famous Indonesian singer as you all know his music in the Far East (Tomas Djorghi)
December 11th, 2006 at 9:07 pm
No I am not protective towards the Sultan of Brunei.
Fact is I don’t know him well, and I’m not knowing you well either. I can only believe 50% of what you said, it might true, but I can’t be sure.
December 13th, 2006 at 4:11 pm
For some reason I think I like you, you are so calm and you seem like a nice person. Whoever would you like to see some attachments with signatures of the beloved wife of the sultan? Also his involvement personally in the high court in London in my case? that with his power and bribe mad to the judges mad that case privet for the last 4 years. Maybe this will make you believe me more and that will make you believe what I am saying it is true 100% this time.
If you wish you can tell me where I can send it to you.

P.S
Yummy you are an editor or an editor in chief of (celebrities and entertainment news)! You wouldn’t know any information’s about a leader or a politician unless you hear about him from others or investigate the mater your self, just like the events of Prince Azim and Mariah Carey that your publication published… all these event are public interests in particular in the Far East where you are is it not?
December 13th, 2006 at 5:34 pm
george… does it matter if I believe you?
Editor sounds like a big word to me, this is just a blog that I share personal interest with other readers… and obviously from the blog title politics and corruptions are not the best interest of the readers here.
So what if the Brunei Sultan is as mean as you claimed? It could be, I’ve seen royals that did something even worse in the past… but life goes on, there are really not much we can do.
Besides if you have some really good info, you can sell it to UK gossips/newspapers and make some real havoc for the Brunei Sultan… that should be a better idea lol.
December 15th, 2006 at 4:16 pm
