2 of the Korea biggest superstar actress, Ha Ji-won and Song Hye-kyo will be starring the same character ‘Hwang Jin-i’, based on the real life stories of a 16th century Kisaeng.

Korea actress Ha Ji-won vs Korea actress Song Hye-kyo

Different is, Ha Ji-won will be starring in a TV drama while Song Hye-gyo will be acting in a movie instead.

People in Korea can’t wait to make comparisons between these 2 popular actress, wondering who will excel in the end.

Ha Ji-won has upper hand though, she already acted in some Korea classic TV dramas and movies; whereas this will be Hye-kyo’s first attempt as a 16th century character.

Both of the stars have to practise in traditional dancing and Geomungo (a music instrument) before starting the actual filming.

A bit about the story of Huang Jin-i (wiki)..

Hwang Jin-i (or Huang Jini), also known as Myeongwol (’shining moon’), was one of the most famous Kisaeng (similar to Japanese Geisha) of the Joseon Dynasty (16th century).

Jin-i was the child of an aristocratic man in Gaeseong; accounts of her mother vary, but many indicate that she was a blind woman named Hyeon Hak-geum.

Because her mother was of cheonmin birth she was unable to marry into a yangban family because of different classes, which was heavily emphasized during the Joseon Dynasty.

Thus, Jin-i became a kisaeng herself and quickly rose to fame thanks to her beauty, intellect, and preternatural talent in playing the geomungo.

Thanks to her fame, Jin-i is among the few kisaeng whose names have survived. She is said to have received a typical aristocratic education in her childhood, studying the Chinese classics.

When she was fifteen, a nearby bachelor is said to have died of love for her. After becoming a kisaeng, she carried on with various notables including Ji Jok-am, and also associated with the philosopher Seo Gyeong-deok. Her place and time of death are unknown.

Several geomungo compositions attributed to Jin-i have been preserved, as have a handful of her sijo poems reflecting on the famous sites of Gaeseong, such as Manwoldae Palace and the Bagyŏn P’okpo waterfall.

In the late 20th century, Hwang’s story began to attract attention from both sides of the Korean divide. Her life has been depicted through media including fiction, film and opera.

Novels dealing with her life include a 2002 novel by the North Korean writer Hong Sok-chung, which was the first North Korean novel to win an award in the South. Another novel, by South Korean writer Jeon Gyeong-rin, became a bestseller in 2004.

ha ji won would best fit the role! period! there’s no denying that she an edge over song hye kyo, i mean with the “dynasty” drama and movie that she has made like “damo” and “the duelist”, she woul have no problems in portraying a “kisaeng”. song maybe beautiful than ha, there’s no denying that, and i know that she is a talented actress as well, but if compared to the awards that ha ji won already has, she has still got a lot to prove to be on the level that ha ji won has already achieved and reached.

there is really nothing to worry about their acting skills…we all know they are both great and take note HJW fans that SHG also has numerous acting awards undre her belt, plus her edge among other actresses is her being incredibly beautiful, personality and physique wise so she is absolutely one of the stars to watch out for again this year, especiallly in this movie Hwangjin-i..so i guess, that’s all i can say…

You can’t just say that ha ji won fit the role betterthan song kye kyo when u not even see the movie .

And for ur information : if ha ji won fit for the role than y would the director chose song kye kyo than ????? duhhhh tell me.

Ha Ji Won Is the Best Actress .I love her.

  9. #29. Chi Says:

Iam Like Ha Ji won .She is very beautiful

  10. #30. Cheiri Says:

I adore Ha Ji Won a lot. She is beautiful, has a great body and a very talented actress. Song may be more beautiful than Ha, but she doesn’t have the body to match her looks. Besides, most of Song’s awards are mainly because of her looks and popularity not because she is good in acting. She actually sucks in acting..

SONG HYE KYO ALL THE WAY!
    SHE GOT ALL!
Looks, style, acting skills.,., she has the most ability to make the people be carried away with her tears!
    AZA AZA FIGHTING!

  12. #32. july Says:

if SHK will have that bed scene thingee.,., no please! she’s gonna lose her career coz it would probably suck her “nice” image.,., she has the best looks ever! she can make everyone smile and cry.,, but if that mocie will just create a great devastation in her image,.,., NO!

  13. #33. Cheiri Says:

I bet Song Hye-Kyo won’t do the bed scene or something sexy. She won’t absolutely flaunt her body, coz she doesn’t have the body to flaunt in the first place!

  14. #34. Cheiri Says:

    victoria…

This reply may be late, but this will be worth for Ha Ji Won’s fans. Ha Ji Won may look a bold star to you, but girl that’s because SHE GOT THE BODY!! Don’t you compare her to “nice girl” Song Hye-Kyo, coz SHK lacks the height and the “body”.

  15. #35. makis Says:

    song hye kyo!!!
she really fits the role …..because she’s gorgeous! and a good actress

  16. #36. Anonymous Says:

I go for Ha ji won! both are pretty but i think ha ji won has a more dramatic sense than song hyo gyo has. If we compare both of them, we only see one feeling that song hy gyo is showing off, she is too one sided in personality..

  17. #37. kukutsinta Says:

    DARNA is the best hahahaha

  18. #38. pretty07 Says:

ha ji won is better..because the costume the role is really mtch with her..she looks prettier wearing tradional dress for kisaeng

  19. #39. lynlyn Says:

    they..bith…did.it…….very….nice….and….awesome……………..

  20. #40. selyn Says:

Ha Ji Won is my fave Korean actress and indeed she portrays the role better and the best!
