Former American Idol contestant Chris Daughtry signed a record deal with RCA Records.
The rocker was tipped to be the hot favorite of winning the 5th season of the reality singing competition, but was surpisingly eliminated earlier than expected.
Taylor Hicks won the competition in the end and got his record deal, but now he found that winning is not a must to be a pro singer nowadays. Daughtry will be getting a deal similar with Hicks, as well as runners-up Katharine McPhee.
Daughtry last month turned down an offer of joining multi-platinum rock band Fuel, stating that he wanted to do his music himself.. and rightly so.
His debut album is expected to release by end of the year, with songs that will be written or co-written by Daughtry himself.
