The 17th Taiwan Golden Melody Awards had just ended with controversials in the results, and with mixture opinions on the show itself.

The show was aired live on Azio TV, with stars from local Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and celebrity guests from Korea and Japan lightened up the red carpet.

The awards presentation itself was long and boring. The award presentors wasted lots of time mumbling stupid rubbish but the award winners were only given 30 seconds and being forced of the stage with a hallelujah music.. so unfair.

The emcees Tao Jing-Ying and Xiao-S were doing ok during the night, but the part of them making fun of breast milk was too over and cheap, and was heavily bombarded with critics online after the show.

The guests’ performances were good but had its miss too. The biggest disappointment was with last year Best Female Vocalist Stephanie Sun, she was seriously off key a few times when singing some of the oldies, a very below par performance.

While shows from Vanness and Korean Kangta, or Seven could impressed the fans.. I think their performance were just ok.

The night was however saved by performances from veteran singers like Zhang Hui-Mei, Jacky Cheung, newly crowned Best Male Vocalist Wang LeeHom and rapper Zhang Zhen-Yue.

Below are 2 videos of the performance that I like the most for the night..

Pride of Taiwan, A-Mei (Zhang Hui-Mei) performing a remix of Taiwan aboriginal music with modern rap and hip-hop.

A rap by Zhang Zhen-Yue and MC HotDog, with guest appearance from Jay Chou (voice) and co-emcee Patty Hou.
