Born in a family where parents are both in acting business, Keira Knightley was interested in acting since young. She had her first TV debut back in 1993 with “Royal Celebration.”
While continuing her study Keira acted in TV and movies a bit here and there; her most noticeable role before making her fame was in “Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace” where she played as Sabé, Padmé Amidala’s (Natalie Portman) decoy.
Keira’s breakthrough came in 2002 with English movie “Bend It Like Beckham.” The movie was a hit in England and Keira was gaining rapid popularity. The movie was however not a huge success in US at the first because leading ladies were not enough to attract attention to the low profile production.
The real fame booster for Keira was her involvement in Hollywood big production “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl” which was a worldwide box office success. Playing the leading lady role of Elizabeth Swann… Keira Knightley was officially famous.
The US distributors of Bend It Like Beckham were brilliant enough to re-release the movie, and it somehow became a hit in US as well.
Keira Knightley never looked back since then, she starred in a few movies and her role in 2005 Jane Austen novel based movie “Pride and Prejudice” won her a nomination for the Oscar in 2006.
Pride and Prejudice created some romance for Keira too; she and the movie co-star Rupert Friend is currently in relationship and has been staying together for a while.
Keira Knightley is set to star in movie “The Best Time of Our Lives,” written by her mother Sharman Macdonald. The movie is scheduled to be shown in 2008.
Why I like Keira Knightley
I first noticed Keira Knightley with TV-movie “Princess of Thieves” and thought that ‘this girl is cool’… later when Keira starred in Bend It Like Beckham, I saw a superstar in making.
Keira Knightley looks great, although a bit too skinny recently. She is a good actress and she really can act. Besides, I always like British accent.

Keira knightley is beautiful. I wish i could meet her in person i would be so happy. That is the only thing i want is to meet her she is my idol
