MTV has announced their nominations for the “2006 MTV Movie Awards.” The awards will be given out on June 3 at Sony Picture Studios in Culver City, California and will premiere nationwide (US) on June 8 on MTV.

As always the nominations are towards the most entertaining and popular movies and performances of the year rather than concerning any artistic sense, and as always.. fans can vote for their favorite online or with text messaging up until a week before the big event.

This year awards show some interesting revamp, with some new categories that break the barrier of male and female categories and combined into one. Example the best actor and actress categories combined into best performance; most desirable male and female for sexiest performance etc.

A little cheer for Asian entertainment lovers, actor Stephen Chow and actress Zhang Ziyi are also nominated for best fighting and sexiest performance respectively.

The emcee for the event has yet to be announced, it’s however expected to be a night full of shining stars and celebrities.
