Rene Liu Ruo Ying Biography

After her high school graduation in Taipei, Rene Liu pursued her music studies in California State University, US. She returned to Taiwan after getting her degree in classical music and was recruited by Taiwan Rock Music.

Rene Liu was not nurtured as singer immediately; in fact she worked as assistant for popular singer-composer Bobby Chen while learning music from him.

1995 is a breakthrough year for Rene Liu; she released her first Chinese album and started acting as well.

While her music career didn’t prosper at first, Rene’s acting talent somehow spotted by famous director Sylvia Chang, who made Rene the leading actress in movie “Xiao Yu.”

Xiao Yu was a great movie, and Rene’s performance won her the Best Actress award at the Asia Pacific Movie Festival in 1995.

Rene Liu has never stop acting since then, and won a few other acting awards in her decade of acting career. Rene is the first ever Taiwanese actress to win best actress awards in both movie and TV productions.

she looks sOoooooooo young in the photo… not to be mean but is it plastic surgery???? she was born in 1970… but it’s ok… it’s betta to look young rightS???? sorries if i said soo…. but i think she’s really pretty!

  5. #25. Yummy Says:

sweety… don’t think she has any plastic. Rene is just good in keeping her looks that’s all… also these days the skin care and beauty care are getting really advance; people can keep their youth by applying cream and taking supplements.

Rene is very pretty and wholesome looking. I have no doubts that she takes good care of her skin. Although, that being a publicity photo, it’s likely there’s been a little retouching done. It’s a pretty standard thing to do.

I once heard someone in advertising say, “don’t believe everything you see in the photos. most of it has been retouched to some degree, be it even minimally.”

But like I said, you can tell Liu Rou Ying has taken good care of herself.

    She’s so Sweet looking!♥

  7. #27. Yummy Says:

The photo definitely had been retouched… as you mentioned joe, it’s pretty standard stuff.

One thing good about Rene’s look is that it can withstand time. I am not sure how to say it properly… but some idols changed a lot (their look) as they grow older, but people like Rene never seem to grow old much… she probably still look like 25 when she get into 40s.

Rene Liu is one of the first Chinese Singers I ever got turned on to. I absolutely fell in love with her voice and music when I first heard her. She’s really how I developed an interest in the whole Mandopop/Cantopop, Asian music scene etc. Now I can’t get enough. :P

She’s also how I stumbled on this site late last year while I was recovering from back surgery. I was googling her name and came apon Yummy Celeb & Entertainment. Lol, when you’ve got a lot of time on your hands due to illness you tend to spend a lot of it on the web surfing and wha-la, you never know what kind of interesting things and places you run across.

  9. #29. Yummy Says:

ic. So you are still recovering or recovered? Good day to you anyway :)

  10. #30. joe Says:

Oh yes, I’m much better now, thanks. It’s a slow recovery from back surgery and you risk re-injury if not carefull. I couldn’t walk, sit or stand much at all without pain killers, lol. But I’m getting around pretty good now. :-)

Still a little pain down the leg every now and then but that’s just the sciatic nerve healing. Like I said, it’s slow. I’ve been told you don’t actually feel fully recovered for a year , maybe even two. I’m at 3 months since my surgery.

  11. #31. Yummy Says:

    ic, take good care then.

  12. #32. joe Says:

Thank you, Yummy. I appreciate it.

Another singer I like who I think sounds very similar to Rene is Jasmine Leung (梁静茹; Liáng Jìngrú, Fish Leong). I used to get the two mixed up, because they sounded so much alike to me.

I didn’ know until I saw the MV that they sang together on a song called “Love”. Hearing that song, I always kind of thought it was just Rene singing, yet there was something slightly different about some places in the song. When I saw the video I found out why. It was Jasmine singing with Rene.

  14. #34. Yummy Says:

I know the song… true indeed, it’s hard to differentiate who is who from the song. Fish was still newbie back then, now she’s a star.

  15. #35. joe Says:

Nice new picture of Rene. That photo looks like it’s had some kind of filter applied too, but not as obvious as the Rainie. This one could pass as being pretty natural looking. Still, Rene is so pretty. Love that girl!!! :)

  18. #38. Yummy Says:

JaNii… I think that song is named “Happy Birthday” as well… not sure where to find it though.

  19. #39. JaNii Says:

    有多少爱可以重来
not sure if called Happy Birthday hehe
I know this movie has a soundtrack though
