Action director Yuen Woo-Ping remaking Iron Monkey

Action choreographer and director, Yuen Woo-PingInternational acclaimed action choreographer and director, Yuen Woo-Ping is planning to remake his 1993 martial art movie, “Iron Monkey.”

Yuen Woo-Ping is famous in Hollywood for his kung fu choreographing in “The Matrix Trilogy,” “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” and “Kill Bill” etc.

Although working most of the time as action director, Yuen Woo-Ping had previously directed a few movies of his own before making fame in Hollywood.

One of his classic movie is Iron Monkey in 1993, starring Chinese actor Yu Rong-Guang and Donnie Yen. (Donnie is now gaining fame as action choreographer in Hollywood as well)

Ermm simple saying.. Iron Monkey is a martial art version of the Western Robin Hood, and was part of the sequels of the popular Hong Kong “Wong Fei Hung” movies in the 90s.

Back to the current Iron Monkey project, with an estimated production cost of USD40 million, the movie is going to based on Ching Dynasty and will be getting the strongest cast possible.

According to Yuen’s plan, international Chinese star Chow Yun-Fat will play the leading role.. while Taiwan singer Jay Chou and Korean hearthrob Rain-bi will play important part as well.

Western audience might not be familiar with Jay and Rain, this can be considered a dream cast for most part of Asia movies lovers.

The movie making is sceduled to start in September this year, hopefully it will be a classical martial art movie that will capture fans all over the world.
