Rainie Yang Cheng Lin Biography
Yang Cheng Lin (Lily) started her entertainment career when she was 14, featuring in commercials in Hong Kong.
When Cheng Lin was 15, she went for a BMG audition in Taiwan and was selected to form a girls group “4 In Love.” It was during that time that Cheng Lin got her name ‘Rainie’ that was used ever since then. The other 3 members were named Sunnie, Windy and Cloudy.
Rainie Yang stood out as the most popular girl from 4 In Love after starring as Xiao-You in 2001 popular Taiwan TV mini-series “Meteor Garden.”
4 In Love released 2 albums and was quite popular in Taiwan, but was sadly disbanded in 2002 due to personal issues. The other 3 members decided to pursue different interest, only Rainie decided to continue her prospering entertainment career back then.
Rainie’s decision proved wise as her popularity continued to grow with her leading performance in 2002 superhit Taiwan TV drama “The Love Book.”
It’s also in 2002 that Rainie started hosting in TV shows, including as co-host for the popular entertainment show in Taiwan, “Guess, Guess, Guess” with Jacky Wu.
Rainie’s another breakthrough was in 2005, she become superstar with her acting in highly rated Taiwan drama, “Devil Beside You” alongside heartthrob Mike He Jun Xiang.
With the success of Devil Beside You, Rainie Yang went back to singing again… releasing her debut solo album “Ai Mei” or “My Intuition” in September 2005. With the assist of the popular TV drama and TV show she was involving, the album became a superhit, Rainie is recognised as a singer once again.
Rainie is crowned the ‘Godmother of Cuteness’ by the press and her fans as she is good in making cute voices and faces, some people actually think she’s overacting but Rainie’s fans love it.
Rainie Yang released her 2nd solo album “Yu Shang Ai” or “Meeting Love” in March 2006, and started promotion overseas in Hong Kong as well.
Already a superstar in Taiwan, Rainie will become a superstar across Asia pretty soon.

I liked 4 In Love pretty much, and thought that Rainie was cute. She’s still cute these days but I actually love her as her matured lady in some of her TV dramas.

i’m sorry to say that there are news that say mike won’t be in EXCHANGE LOVE.there is no official confirmation yet but mike recently said that he won’t be acting with rainie anytime soon.that’s too bad..before rainie left for her US concert, she confirmed that she’ll be doing the series with mike but a few days later, mike was saying the opposite thing.here’s the old article on EXCHANGE LOVE.

Angie Chai is to produce a new drama for “lovebirds of the hour” Mike He and Rainie Yang come the end of the year. Mike He who is known to be TVB Hong Kong’s new recruit and Rainie Yang, one of the hottest Taiwanese popstars hit it big as a tandem last year headlining the hit Taiwanese idol drama, “The Devil Beside”.
The new drama is to begin filming next season and Chai expressed to be hiring the best wardrobe specialists and makeup artists for well-prepared drama that will be based on a Korean manhwa. The current working title of the series is “Exchange Love” and as of the current, after a long wait and speculations, it is confirmed that He and Yang are to play the respective leads.
The gist surrounds a handsome heir to a business empire who couldn’t get enough of his womanizing and rude behavior. He then meets a poor girl who juggles 3 physically-enduring jobs for a living. Boy insults girl on a weird encounter and through supernatural occurences, they discover they had switch bodies the next morning. Sorry, but I do agree that Rainie tries waaay too hard. Have you seen her transition from Xiao You [Meteor Garden] to Qi Yue [Devil Beside You]? I loved Xiao You, and I thought she was great. Lol, well, I liked it not because of the rollerskates, but because she looked cuter in the last picture. Maybe there’s another more recent picture that she looks cuter in than this one.

Devil Beside You was the first taiwanese movie I have ever seen. Iv’e seen dozens movie, just not taiwanese. After Devil Beside You. Well. You get the point. Rainie is an awesome actress and a superb singer. She has a very great voice. I felt her and Mike had great chemistry. I reall like the two of them together. Hopefully something will happen?.? Also. It’s hard to translate it into English… it will be different tone and sounded not right.
I will try anyway… it’s about Japanese invasion to China during World War 2; she was asked a question during a variety show about how long did the Chinese have to fight against the invasion… she answered 11 years… and when she was told the answer is 8; she respond something like “Only eight years??”
Some China’s people are not happy with Rainie, claiming that she has poor knowledge of Chinese history; but the real problem is her respond of ONLY 8 years.
Besides, she is a known fan of Japanese stuff… and had previously (before the above incident) ridiculed people who still stress about the history of Japan-Chinese war, stating that it’s none of the business of the new generation.
She said something wrong, that’s for sure; but I do give her beneficial of doubt though… she was just around 20 years old when she said all those stuff, everybody make mistake at that age… I see that her act (and words) was naive and childish instead of any real intent to harm or hurt someone.
She did apologize about the specific case, and in the recent time has behave (and say things) much maturely… I felt that she deserve a 2nd chance.

i don’t care if they don’t like rainie…but them spreading the hate is what i’m reacting to.

she was only acting in spider lilies, so having a “wild” character there doesn’t mean that she is in real life. she actually always says she’s very conservative.
for her mcdonald’s ad, she was belly dancing, so she needed to expose her stomach. but you very rarely see her wearing revealing clothes.
as for having many haters here, i don’t care. haha. that’s the beauty of anonymity. we all have the courage to say stuff here because we are strangers who will never meet. and i’m sure those who dislike rainie could never come up to her and say “i hate you, you suck” when they actually see her.

i wish people would realize that the reason i seem like i’m “messing with everybody” is that most of the recent comments are directed to me.
most of what i’ve said were hardly about Rainie, because i’m mostly defending myself. if you read back on the last couple of pages, you’ll see that if anyone’s being “judged” here, it’s me.
my first few posts were only regarding the Rainie impostor. the following comments by others have been judgments not only about my posts, but personal attacks as well. it’s hypocritical to say i shouldn’t mind other people’s comments, when the very people who say that, are minding MY comments. isn’t it funny?
if people just ignored me, i would have been long gone. cause it wouldn’t have been as fun talking to myself.
some asked questions about Rainie, and i tried to give answers. there’s nothing with that right?
the only people whose posts had nothing to do with me and i replied to are union and aie.
i posted a reasonable comment about union’s “getting old quick” comment, and i got personal attacks in return.
i was merely making fun of aie’s “liking girls” comment, and again, i got personal attacks.
if this really is a place to just come, drop a comment and just leave, then people wouldn’t have seen me reply to them. people obviously come back to check the comments.
this can also be a place for discussion if people are willing.
i am a fan of Rainie, and it wasn’t my intention to start a fight. but i have to admit, i had a great laugh from all this.
life is getting busier, so i’m going to have to leave you kiddies alone now.
you can all rejoice and talk shit all you want.

I first saw Rainie in the preview of Liao Zhai Ah Bao and took a long time to find out who she is…Rainie at first sight was “beautiful!” and i thought she was pretty cuter then any taiwanese stars…I watched Devil Beside You and heard some of her songs….well my perspective changes because I look at her too much that I realize that her smiles look fake because it lack a feeling of trueness from her heart…and her voice is too high like she is ‘trying’ hard to sound cute…her fashion sense starts to look childish and weirder and weirder these days…her mature looks are better, she’s 23 yrs old so she should grow up and stop wearing ballet puff dresses or singing sweetly, I don’t like her songs or music videos…she have a pretty face but I sometime feel it’s all fake behind her mask….her role in DBY is good and I like her style in there more….^0^
