Song Hye-kyo Biography
When Song Hye-kyo was born, she was sick and her parents and doctor thought she would never make it. Miraculously Hye-kyo survived and her parents only registered her birth on February 26, 1982.
Song Hye-kyo was introduced into the entertainment world when she won the MTM model contest in 1996 and started appearing on some TV shows; she was just 15.
Song Hye-kyo breakthrough was in 2000 with popular TV drama “Autumn In My Heart” (also known as “Autumn Tale” or “Endless Love”) starring alongside Song Seung-hun and Won-bin.
Not only did she become one of the most popular actresses in Korea, the sad-romance drama swept across Asia… Song Hye-kyo and her co-actors became Asian superstar.
Song Hye-kyo starred in another Asian hit South Korean TV drama “Hotelier” in 2001 and once again won her fans with her performance in 2003 with “All In,” where she met Lee Byung-hun and started a relationship that ended in 2005.
Song Hye-kyo co-starred with rising Korean pop-singer Rain (Bi) in 2004 TV drama “Full House” and unsurprisingly, she won the heart of Asian fans once again.
Song Hye-kyo is also a popular face for TV commercials, and she starred her first movie in 2005 “My Girl and I” with Cha Tae-hyun. Her movie adventure was however not as successful as her TV adventure, but she is not giving up.
Song Hye-kyo has just finished filming her latest movie based on the real life story of a 16th century kisaeng, “Hwang Jin-i.”

Song Hye-kyo is probably not the love-at-first-sight type of girl, but the more you see her, the more you will like her.
I think Song Hye-kyo is pleasantly beautiful, and has the kind of girl-next-door feeling. Her popularity is not solely on her appearance, she is well known for her acting performance.

I came to know Song Hye Gyo when I first watched Endless Love. I was so attracted to her that I started to watch almost every of the show that she acted. I also watched her first movie My Girl recently. I think she is the only Korean actress that I like most. Hope she can act more TV serials. Wish her all the best in her life and acting.

Song Hye-kyo and Liu Yi Fei are so different.. Hye-kyo is already an established actress, while Yi Fei are still new and improving.
Both of the star do have a refreshing look.. the kind of face that probably still look good without makeup.

Full House was a very sweet movie. Song Hye_kyo was so charming and Rain .. very cute. First time viewing a Korean movie, I enjoyed it very much. Would you please give me a list of other movies she is in.

hye kyo song is beautiful, intelligent, talented, and most likely has a big heart. it shows in the way she acts. she’s very versitle too. she can be sad and crying in one drama, then mad and joking around in another. she’s one of my many favorite korean actresses, although my number 1 choice is choi ji woo. still, i’m a big fan of hers and i wish much success and hapiness and hope to see her in new dramas and movies.

i do not wish she makes a movie with Jackie Chan (sry) because everytime an actress does a movie with him, they get rumours. and plus, to be honest, Jackie Chan is such an hypocrite, 90% HK ppl hates him (i’m from the U.S but i know it). he has an affair with Elaine Ng, she’s pregnant and it’s proven the baby’s his, and Mr.Chan doesn’t do anything about it besides saying “I did something wrong that every man would’ve done”. also about a month and a half ago, he’s drunk and just disturbs his friend’s (Johnny Lee) concert for 20 mins cursing at the audience and after that his reaction to it was “i’m not a saint, ppl view me as a saint” meaning it wasn’t a problem to just charge up on somebody’s concert and scold the audience. story ends here now, there will be more news of Mr.Chan in the future….sry to all his fans i just have to blab it out.

Woman will look beautiful in different way when they grow in age. Teenagers like Yi Fei can look cute, woman like Hye-kyo will have to look more mature.. and when they move into 30s they will have to be elegant and smart etc.
As always, beauty is hardly comparable, especially if the people are from different age and culture group. And it’s always just personal opinions when if come to defining beauty, no point denying other’s preference.

“Full House” was a real unexpected and pleasant surprise for me. She is such a comic here, and it again proves her talent. It seems to me that she plays the comic best of all, and it’s her genre. too much!!!maybe, maybe you are right!!! I mean there may be even more beautiful girls than her, but we don’t see them because they either simply want to remain silent and don’t want publicity or they have no talent to act or to be a model.
Well, what I adore Hye Kyo most for is her talent as an actress and her talent as a human being who is very funny and cute and gorgeous and someone that makes you laugh, even if only on the sreen.
And she comes out and wants the world to see her. SO she is, within the girls with obvious TALENT, certainly the MOST BEAUTIFUL.

I disagree with you about your comparison of song hye-kye and Lee Da Hae (in your comment message 5). In regarding acting, crying scenes are generally considered as easy ones, becuase background music and tears can easily produce beta waves in the brain, which can easily induce a sadness, in the other hand, making happy act is not easy because happiness is perceived from the different lobe of the brain. Mostly, waves mediating this part necessitate certain qualities, such as smile, certain classical musics or sound of water, etc…
Why I am saying these !!! Becuase I have not seen Song Hye-kye playing a happy role. She is either cancer (mostly leukemia) or something else… My point is that giving happy moment to audience is not easy, I am not talking about the sad ending but keeping the audience happy and satisfied during the play. Athold Fugard, Bernard Shaw and even Hehrik Ibsen succeeded this, even they do not have happy ending of most of their plays, actually all of them claimed that they are not romatic playwrites.
In this respect, all the acting of song hye-kye is relatively easy, such as the one in the autumn tale, my girl and I. (Full house is really dreadful, and not at all realistic). In the other hand, My girl by Lee Da Hae is exteremly difficult and she stages each moment of different feelings on her face smoothly, and I have not seen this with Song Hye-kyo. She could have done this in Full House, and as I said it was an embassment.
Ultimately, easy roles is the places where actors and actresses are not tested, whereas playing mediocracy can make you look good one, as Song hye-kyo. Please, do not get me wrong, I am not saying she is a bad one, what I am saying is that professionally Lee Da Hae is way up better than her.
That is crazy huh… Lee Da Hea… Weather is not going very well folks, global warming in front of our door, atlantic ocean is 2 celcius warmer than normal, and here are we talking about what… I believe we will never change as humans. We believe that our impeccable lies to ourselves will circumvent our hardships, but … My brain does not further here, I am just a scientist, a yellow head living in a autumn in the middle of the winter, a winter in the middle of Boston, and I am disappointed because of weather. I want to melt in, but it is late for me to change to new one, I am so far away from there, and I talk differently. My comment #5 was not even comparing anything. I was just saying I like Song Hye-kyo much more, and I still do… nothing about good or bad.
It’s true that lots of the time it’s more difficult to make people laugh than to make people cry; that’s why I appreciate actors like Stephen Chow a lot.
There are different issues in life, there are stuffs that are serious, as well as things that are fun. In everyday lifes we can work hard to make the world a better place, but as always, there will be leisure moment for us to enjoy our life.

Wow! Just reading all the admirations and criticisms about SHG bring headches to me. Guys, don’t get me wrong. First of all, a few clarifications about her: SHG is single and still available (I think, in spite of the fact that she and Rain are constantly being linked together, the latest of which was Rain’s visits on her while she was shooting her movie. This happened just late last year, I think it was around November and Rain brought her lunch or something). Yes, she is Christian (but I am not sure if she is indeed Catholic). I believe she is pure Korean-not true that she has Japanese descent. Her parents have long been divorced but she has good relationship with her biological father. Her last and only confirmed relationship was with Lee Byun-hun (he has more than 10-yr age gap with her), who is a top senior korean actor and to which she was shortly engaged. Their relationship lasted for more than a year and few months after that she started taping the very famors Full House with Rain.
Okay so I am fan of SHG too! But I also admire other Asian actors but one thing that’s really striking about SHG as compared with other actress (at least in the Korean level) is her exceptional beauty. She is among the few actresses in Korea that has yet to go under surgery. That means the beauty that you say she is is really hers. I also think she is a good actress although I feel she has a long way to go to really be recognized as a brilliant actress. But hey she can act and not just a pretty face to watch. AS comparing her to other actress (Korean level or Asia wide) I think it is just but good. It really means that she is gaining huge followers that’s why she is being compared with other actresses.
But guys, please stop this bickering and inventing foul news about her or to any other actors. It is not really fair for them. If you like a particular actor then express your admiration but don’t invent news expecially those below the belt. This site should only be dedicated to giving information about them not necessarily only positive news but those that are founded on facts and not lies.

Now that’s something I don’t want to believe. To say that Rain and SHG are not even good friends is an understatement. One full proof that they are good friends (since both sides keep denying the rumors about them) was when Rain suprised her with a pack of lunch during a shooting break of her film “Hwanjini” just last November 2006. Also, both stars have been spotted appearing in premier night of each other’s movies. These means that in spite of the fact that “Full House” was long done, their friendships have not ended there. Even the director of that series once told that ocassionally the crew and the stars still go out. Maybe it is still quite too assuming to think that the two have more than something else (though not impossibe) but they have really bonded even long after Full House. It is just but normal for this to happen to any actors.

In fact they are wearing the same ring(i don’t know if they still do), and the news says that eventhough rain has a hectic schedule he still has time to pay a visit or to meet hye kyo, that works for hye kyo also because she has busy schedules too. And i believe that their friendship can be more than friends if they take the chance to be more interested to each other. I wish rain really has feelings for song hye kyo. If that ever happens that will be great. For my opinion maybe rain is just waiting for the right time. Because hye kyo had just had a fierceful break-up with LBH, may be that made hye kyo to be more sensitive about love. And that will be hard for rain because he needs time to wait for hye kyo to welcome others love. I wish they can be a real couple. Rain is busy with his concert… his schedule should be in between Singapore and Malaysia now, but he could be back to Korea before flying here again.
Hye-kyo will be leaving for North Korea anytime soon to continue her filming on movie Hwang Jin-i, which was delayed because of political unstableness at the region. The filming team has just got their safety clearance.

Sing_a_song… lots of Korean movies are showed in other Asian countries thes days. I can’t say that “Hwang Jin-i” will be show in other Asia places for sure, but there’s always a chance.
For VCD or DVD, there’s always versions with English sub.

Hi sing_a_song and to all SHG and Rain fans! The rumors between Rain and SHG that they are more than friends are really strong. There have been several ocassions that the two were spotted together not only in Korea but there were also rumors that they are seeing each other even in the US. This happened when the Full House series ended. I guess they really found consolation in each other. Anyway, some says that the real reason why both can’t admit their “supposed relationship” is that it would affect both their career especially Rain. I read in one of RAin’s unofficial site that in spite of the fact that Rain really like SHG, the condition he is in right now prohibits him from doing so. As you all know Rain is very popular and so is with the girls. The site also said that because of his status, a lot of girls (it was mentioned there that women are literally throwing themselves on him) would not allow Rain to be with SHG, even if he marries her. I don’t know who exactly the site was referring to as this supposed women but I think Rain’s status is probably the major reason why both of them are denying their relationship. I also think that SHG really have feelings for RAin and i don’t believe that she has not recovered yet from her long-ago break-up from LBH. Remember, it was her who broke-up from him in early 2004. Although i think it was so painful for her at time. But you know what? If the things mentioned in that site are somewhat true, I kind of pity SHG and Rain about their condition. Anyway, i really hope that in the end they will end up together.

It is not very true that song hye kyo commited suicide!! she is not the one who did it but someone who is a korean actress too i just forgot her name. In korean industry maybe suicide is an issue because people there tend to do it because of typical depressions.

I only liked Song because of her personality in Full House, Jiuen is so sweet and jolly that you’ll really fall for her, Song made Jiuen alive I think Im more of Han Jiuen fan than Song Hye-Gyo herself. Il give props to the WRITER of the story that made character Jiuen so lovable and easy to fall for.

I got attracted to Korean movies because of Song Hye Gyo, a love
at first sight – I disagree with the comment that she is not the love-at-first sight-type of girl – looking at her pix made my eyes stared and lingered on her face and all herself. I like her a lot and I know she is the kind of girl every man wants to marry. Its not the movie, but her made me like watch the movie. I just hope she can also be paired with Bae Yong Jon or Lee Dong Wook or again with Rain. I like her person, I hope she will continue to try to speak English as she is an international artist now – she can also sing maybe she can develope it too. I hope she will accept more movies and tv dramas, so we can see her more often if not daily.

Eversince I saw her in Endless Love Autumn in my Heart I became her instant fan not only me but everybody in our family.what attracted us most is her beautiful face- so innocent.We watched all her tv series.of these we enjoyed watching Full House the most.I think Rain is her best screen partner followed by won bin who is also very handsome.We are waiting for a project-movie or better a tv series starring SHK and Bi or SHK and Won Bin or with another handsome partner like kwon sang woo.

Song Hye Kyo is beautiful & a good actress. But, I like Lee Dae Hae better because she’s beautiful, a good actress & tall (5′7″) Song Hye Kyo is not very tall (I read somewhere that she’s only 5′3″). Height is very important especially in international beauty contests & modeling.

Song Hye Kyo is amazing. I think its rare to find someone with such a cute personality that fits perfectly with her face. I watched Autumn Tale and it was really good. At first I didn’t think she was that special or pretty, but as I kept watching on, the more I start to see how beautiful and cute she is. Full House was probably her best performance, I think she really showcased her acting abilities. Now I want to watch every single movie and tv series she’s in, I’m definitely a true die hard fan of hers. I hope someday I will be able to meet her face to face.

Hye Kyo is a great actress… She had potrayed Han Ji-eun in Full House unexceptionally… Her facial expressions alone project exactly what the character is feeling, Hye-kyo does not need to open her mouth to be able to give the audience idea of what is about to happen. She certainly deserves the awards she had gotten.
Hye-kyo is also very very beautiful, I love her face. The chemistry between she and Bi is without doubt, perfect. Bikyo certainly deserved that best couple award. Full House was a great drama, I practically cired over almost all the episodes. I cried tears of joy, sadness, and anger; (on Min-hyuk and Hye-won).
I hope that they will produce a sequel to Full House, or maybe another Bikyo drama. Song Hye-kyo, you are a great actress. You are my role model. I always will wish you the best! I hope you’ll make more dramas with Bi, I’ll be counting on it!
PS: BTW, I think I’m sorta-kinda like Han Ji-eun. I always make the same facial expressions to people in certain times. I also say some phrases that she says, and thinks the way she does. If I were married in that manner, I will treat it as if it were real, especially when you’re married to Bi… Lol.

161cm is ok by Asian standards… Asian guys on average aren’t that tall as well.
Asian fans are crazed by Asian celebs with 180+ height, but 180+ is pretty common in the West, nothing special about that.
Taller girls might look prettier, but tougher to find bf in Asia… lots of Asians won’t appreciate a taller gf.

Well, you guys should check out her site (songhyehyo.net). Check the gallery there and see her latest pix – the changsa trip and the one in Paris. She’s very slim and even prettier. I bet Rain loves her even more that he hardly kept his eyes away from her (I am talking about the Changsa trip in China) during their 2 or 3 days trip there. About her legs – definitely she has nice pair of legs – she’s sexy in mini-skirt,
it was just a comment in the movie do not be carried away, look again, see her in Changhae China promotion of Full House, she has long legs.
About her voice, she sings well, I think if she will give herself a chance to sing often, her voice will be develope, she sings in tune and in timing, which is important, she just need to have courage.
To others like Vapour, does LDH ( I like her also) has a site, but its also good to read comments – its a healthy expressions of our preferences.

the good looking person I mentioned refers to you YUMMY, I read above you are about 28 and a man.
Also, distancing themselves (referring to SHG & Rain) will not create anything to talk about – playing safe, so, if they have feelings for each other they can privately do it.
But its good also, SHG is so beautiful for sure there are so many who wanted to be paired with her. One is Ming Kyuk in Full House although he is a little bit older but I saw him in one drama and he is talented.
Most Korean actors remain bachelor even almost 40. I wish for SHG marries at her young age the most is 30.
So, she has to race with time – make more dramas and movies – good friends of SHK, ask her to receive more offers, maybe a host in a show, I know she can be good in it also, she is witty and maybe can ad lib well.
Yummy – what do you think why she has spaces before a next project?

I have been wondering whether Song Hye Kyo is of mixed blood – like is she of European descent or something? Coz she looks real gorgeous and many say that she didn’t have plastic surgery like many korean artists do.
No wonder Rain hinted very strongly that he wants to marry someone like SHK. Only those with original looks would produce similar looking brood.

I like a lot of Korean female celebs, but not a superfan of any particular one. My interest follow their works instead of the celeb herself… like maybe a recently good drama, movie or songs etc.
Not paying much attention to dramas lately, more interested in K-pop instead. A few girls groups like SNSD, Kara etc. are getting my attention… so you can say that these girls are my favourites at the moment.
But as always, it changes accordingly from time to time. Ask the question again in 4-5 months and I might give you a different answer :p

Hi!Gerry fr. San Fran.My family got hooked to K drama due to this beautiful girl SHK when we watched Full House.This is our favorite despite watching hundreds of KDramas,nothing beats this one.We also love Autumn Sonata(Endless Love) and of course next to FH is her latest WW drama w/ Hyun Bin.This is the most natural acting K drama so far.I love them all here and was so happy to learn that HB and SHK are now dating.I wish them all the best!Especially for SHK who has been loveless for quite sometime.Fans should also watch her laneige commercials on You Tube,she is breathtakingly beautiful!!!I’m so proud of her:)Wish she will accept the offer to do FH2 w/ Rain,that would be so….awesome!!Thank you yummy for this site, more power to you!

I really hope that Song gets to read this site..coz I really really like her, I like the sophisticated face and though she dons sexy poses, her simplicity strikes through. May she really be happy with Hyun Bin (Cyrus) and hopefully “The world that they live in” or world within be shown here in the Philippines @ GMA7 of course ( this is kinda her home channel in the Phils.)
