BAFTA awards 2006, London

It’s still early in the year and as always an award presentation season. This time is the British film award, Orange Bafta awards 2006 in London.

Brokeback Mountain continues its Golden Globe domination to win the best film, best director (Ang Lee) and best supporting actor (Jake Gyllenhaal).

Best actor goes to Philip Seymour Hoffman with Capote, best actress is Reese Witherspoon with Walk the Line.

Memoirs of a Geisha suprisingly took 3 awards, all in artistic categories. Zhang Ziyi was on stage to receive one of the award as representative.

The Constant Gardener that was nominated for 10 categories only got one, George Clooney nominated for 4 but going home empty handed.

British film producer Lord David Puttnam was named for Academy Fellowship recognition, he received a standing ovation when he collected his award.

Btw, BAFTA stands for British Academy of Film and Television Arts.
