Kwon BoA Biography
Kwon BoA ambition was to become a singer when she was a kid, but her route to star hood came with a bit of faith and coincidence.
When BoA was 11 years old, her brother went for a talent quest audition organized by Korea entertainment agency, SM Entertainment.
SM was planning to produce an international superstar and wanted to train the prospect from young age, and BoA’s brother was asked if he got any younger siblings, and BoA was invited by SM for audition as well.. and BoA was chosen to be the future star.
BoA’s parents were persuaded to allow BoA to pursue her childhood dream of becoming a singer, and she started her training in singing, dancing and foreign languages. She was once sent to Japan to learn Japanese and sing & dance skills, which according to BoA was some of the toughest time she ever had.
BoA released her first Korean album, “ID; Peace B” in 2000 and immediately noticed by Japan’s Avex and signed a contract.
In March 2002, BoA became the first foreigner to top the Japan Oricon chart, with her debut Japanese album “Listen to My Heart.” The album was co-produced by Avex Japan and SM Korea, Boa showed her talent singing in English, Japanese and Korean.
The BoA sensation spreads to all around Asia, with numerous Japanese and Korean hits in the past few years. She won the MTV Asia The Most Influential Asian Artist Award in 2004, she was just 18 then.
In February 2006, BoA released her 4th Japanese album “Outgrow” and top the ORICON chart again and became only the 2nd singer to have 4 consecutive album topping ORICON chart. (The first artist to do this is Ayumi Hamasaki)
It’s also a known fact that BoA is interested in acting as well. Her first movie involvement was as voice-actress for Korean version of Anime movie “The Hedge” in May 2006.
Why I like Kwon BoA
BoA is arguably the most famous Asian young star. I actually like her when she was younger, she looked cute back then, but now trying to portray a sexy look, with too many makeup most of the time.
Anyway I think BoA can sing and dance very well, she is an intelligent and smart girl.
While some people think that BoA was lucky to achieve her superstar status, bear in mind that she worked really hard to achieve what she is today.

i agree koda kumi is pretty wild but she is cool in a way too. i like her songs and her dances for square production. she would be my idol if she’s not too wild.

if she has to pay then how did she pay them when she was around her 13 to 15 years she didn’t have any money back then.

The company paid for these stuff. All BoA did was signed the contract with the company… and shared part of her income with the company when she becomes famous.

Sorry to tell everybody, no offense to the fans of Boa, I think Sarah Geronimo From the Philippines is better than Boa Kwon, Sarah Geronimo is just 19 y/o can sing anything and dance really well. I can prove it If you want you can check her out in Youtube. I hate it when Boa sings in English, she is having a hard time pronouncing or singing the words. I saw it in youtube when she sang one sweet day…ewwwww sorry again but its the truth

Kaykicks… agree on her English; she doesn’t seem to improve over the years. Perhaps it’s lack of real conversation among her friends and colleagues. Learning a language in school is not enough, we need to use it often to be really fluent with it.

Excuse me! BoA is much Cutter than Sarah Geronimo. And also sarah is a filipino, that’s why she could sing english good than BoA, boA entertains Japanese and Korean not philippines. and besides Sarah Geronimo sung the national anthem of the philippines, and she sang it wrong!!!! Sarah Is soo UGLY! BOa IS More CUTE!!! Sorry Kay kicks! I’am a filipino too, but I like BoA than Sarah, Sarah have no Appeal. Yuck!!! And Sarah is just a simple face!!!! Go BoA!!!

hey for pop stars do they get pay everyday like other workers because if boa waits a whole year for a concert how is she making a living. so do singers get pay everyday of their life.

star… it depends on the contracts and the agencies she is working for. There are also multiple factors like the size of the agency, the potential of the star etc.
I am not really sure how Korean agencies work, but in general… some of the agencies do provide their artists with allowances, some only pay according to their work.
Besides, those with potential to become superstars are normally treated better even when they are not yet a star.
Famous pop stars like BoA don’t need to worry about making a living daily. Having just a few concerts could pay for her living expenses for a few years.
