Career and Biography

Beatrice started her entertainment career as a model. She appeared in some commercials and music videos before making her official acting debut (when she was still in university).

Her first noticeable TV drama role was a brief appearance in hit series Meteor Garden in 2001. She followed up as a supporting cast in True Love 18 (2002) which got her a nomination at the Golden Bell Awards.

She then starred in drama series Love Storm (2003) alongside actor Vic Chou. The two dated for a couple of years but separated in 2005.

Beatrice’s major breakthrough came in the same year though, with popular drama series Express Boy. The show made her and co-star Mike Ho very popular, not just in Taiwan but in other Asian countries too.

Most people known her as an actress, but she’s a talented musician too. She can play piano and harp very well, and can also play guitar, drum and erhu. She had a duet with Gary Cao in Freedom, and OST for drama series Nine-Ball in 2004.

Death

Beatrice was involved in a fatal car accident on January 26, 2007, and passed away two days later. A posthumous memorial concert was held in her memory in February, fulfilling her dream of holding her own concert.

Her last acting work was in drama series Daughter of the Sun which she didn’t manage to complete. The show aired in April by keeping her appearance (in the first few episodes), but edited the script for another actress to assume her role in later parts.

Many of you probably won’t notice this but Beatrice was the first artist I wrote about on this blog. She’s one of my favourite celebrities. It’s always bad to see a young star leaving so soon, but this is especially sad. RIP.
